Dumpling Press Test: A Success!!!

I got a set of 4 dumpling presses (AKA the “Progressive International 4-Piece Dough Press Set”) for Christmas that I finally got a chance to test out.  I decided to make pierogies for the test run.  First impression:  the dumpling presses work REALLY well!

There was a little bit of a learning curve to get the pierogies just right, but once I got the hang of it, it really helped speed up the pierogi-making process.  I did find out that if you slightly turn the dough press after stamping the dough, it will cut through much more cleanly and create perfect dough circles.  I saw some of the online criticisms of the dough press said it didn’t hold up well to repeated use, but so far, I am optimistic after my success.  I will update this post if anything changes, though.

About T

Greetings! I am one of the West Coast representatives of Cast Iron and Wine, originally from PA, but residing in beautiful Southern California for more than a decade. I am a life-long adventurous eater and cooking enthusiast, and I am fortunate to be located close to a number of farmers' markets, specialty markets, and ethnic grocery stores, where I can almost always find something new (to me!) to try. Cooking and creating in the kitchen make me ridiculously happy, and while my creations might not always be a raging success, I always have fun!
