Schwan’s Scallop Saute Review

I had never heard of Schwan’s before we received a gift card for Christmas.  After perusing their site, we decided to order a bunch of frozen seafood and thick cut bacon.  First item up for sampling: Schwan’s Scallop Saute.

The scallops were pretty large, but I was able to fix the entire pound quite nicely into my Lodge 12 inch cast iron skillet, with a little room to spare.

The scallops cooked in about 15 minutes:

Overall, they were pretty tasty.  They have a light garlic flavor and good texture.  Normally I don’t like my frozen seafood to be pre-flavored, but the seasoning on the scallop saute didn’t bother me.  At $23.59/lb., I think they are a little on the expensive side, but if you live in a place where fresh scallops are not easy to come by, the scallop saute would be a nice treat.

About T

Greetings! I am one of the West Coast representatives of Cast Iron and Wine, originally from PA, but residing in beautiful Southern California for more than a decade. I am a life-long adventurous eater and cooking enthusiast, and I am fortunate to be located close to a number of farmers' markets, specialty markets, and ethnic grocery stores, where I can almost always find something new (to me!) to try. Cooking and creating in the kitchen make me ridiculously happy, and while my creations might not always be a raging success, I always have fun!
